I haven't read the original yet, but since it was you AND based around one of my favorite SG1 eps, I had to immediately click through. I really love this. Just...the struggle and the push pull between old and new the familiar and the unfamiliar. It strikes just the right note of poignancy without ever slipping into maudlin or ringing false. And of course, negative space art is actually one of my kinks (because I fail SO SPECTACULARLY at being able to create it myself) so the art and the metaphor of it are beautifully constructed to ring that kink like a bell.
