I have been out of town, and this was a wonderful, amazing surprise to find when I returned. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
"Disposable Comestibles" is one of my favorite of my X-Men stories, because I love the friendship between Hank and Bobby in the comics, and really wanted to see that in the movies.
Your story takes all the things I loved about mine and makes it about a billion times better. Thank you!
Some of my favorite things:
+ Hank's voice. It is just perfect, and is one of the things I love about him in canon, and it's just as good here, it's even better here, because it's all words, and such an amazing combination of words at that.
+ The communications consultant, and the way Hank uses her advice with the children.
+ Hank and Tony's friendship.
+ "Like a teddy bear," she said, "Or Burt Lahr as the Cowardly Lion." -- Fantastic line
+ John and Bobby watching Star Trek, and John's swear words, and the remnants of their friendship, so tattered in poor Bobby.
+ Emma. Throughout this, she's fantastic, with her own moral code, the way she picks at Scott, the way she eats the Twinkie, her friendship with Hank -- I love Emma anyway, and here I love her a whole lot. Thank you.
+ Kitty. I have never been more interested in her character and her humor and her flirtations. You use her well here, her ranting and her personality, and she's absolutely amazing.
+ He looks down at his hands – away from me for a moment, "Funny story," he says, then looks up at last. "I can't do that. That is one thing that I really really cannot let Emma Frost know." -- Fantastic line.
+ She pulls the bright yellow Twinkie off of the paper backing and lifts it, turning it around in her pale manicured fingers. "Mine's broken," she announces, and attempts to hand it back to Scott. "This white – goo, or whatever it is? It's coming out of the back." -- This is hilarious, and wonderful, and all sorts of good things wrapped up in a few lines. Emma here is perfect, especially the "Mine's broken" part.
+ Emma's dancing, and her degree, and the way she's so logical about using her talents, and wants to teach the children the same. She's amazing.
Thank you for writing this story for me. I love it beyond the telling, and I'm so pleased and grateful.
