This is a wonderful gift. I remember when I first posted this story, I invited someone to write the Dark Side version, because I had no idea how that would work, and I really wanted to know. And here you've gone and created it! *dances*

Darius is the perfect choice for Kronos' guide. The antagonistic interaction between them is completely different than the original characters, but the format and the FEEL of the story exactly mirrors the original. All those empty landscapes.

Kronos has is larger than life, even in death, just as he should be. I loved the way he immediately wanted to find and punish Methos, and his astonishment that Methos had won, and survived. The verbal intimidation and the way he grasps control of the landscape are exactly in character. I hadn't realized until I read this how strong his desire for slaves, victims, an audience, might be.

Darius's smile is a little less beatific, hinting of a man who has valued conquering and is not disappointed by the outcome of Kronos's fight.
Oooooh, very nicely done. Of course, Darius would believe that heaven and hell awaited Immortals when they moved on. Oddly enough, I'd never thought of it that way - possibly because Matthew didn't think so.

The ending, where Kronos mocks Darius with his prediction of what sort of Immortal will be left to win the Prize, and Darius considers it and goes back ... beautiful.

I feel like we've just danced a very hot tango together, mysterious author. Shall I smoke a cigarette? Send you virtual candy? Braid your hair and whisper your praises to the four winds?

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
