This made me cry from One onwards. Not just choke up, but actually sob with tears that I had to swallow so my family wouldn't think I'm crazy.
You took my dark, silly little rhyme and turned it into something moving and powerful -- all those ghosts, all those hauntings -- you really brought home the whole idea behind Thestrals.
This is more than I could have expected, and I absolutely love it. If it's okay with you, I'll add a link to it on the page of the original.
I think One hit me the hardest. Two gave me chills. Three and Four I love for the way they reference small elements of canon and make them so real. Five, jesus, that tore my heart in two. Six was really interesting and added a plausible layer to Dudley's character -- children are always fascinated by the things forbidden to them by their parents. Seven had a beautiful kind of poetry and irony. Eight -- well that's when I lost it completely. Nine made me shudder. Ten (of course I knew it would be about Harry), ten finished the fic off in such a beautifully angsty and honest way.
Thank you so much. I have a small guess as to who you are for various reasons, but I could easily be wrong. Regardless, I love what you did with my poem and am so glad I went ahead and signed up for the remix.
