Thank you so much for the lovely feedback! I really appreciate it. I'm so glad you enjoyed the story.
Great writing here, from John’s dialogue to Dean’s reaction. You nicely communicated so much pain in such a short amount of space.
John's line there is one of the few I lifted directly from the original, but I didn't feel like it was making him the villain, that John knew what Dean was giving up, and felt terrible about it, even though he believed it was necessary, and that Dean had chosen to do so.
Dean’s so sneaky. He knows how to work the system, doesn’t he?
he does! I think that Dean is capable of being happy in whatever situation he finds himself in, but I also think that he can work the system to his satisfaction, usually, and he's quiet about it not just because being noisy would mean getting caught, but because it's nobody else's business. Unlike Sam, who I think tries to make points and create change with his rebellions - they're never just personal for him, which is why they're so much more problematic for John. Sigh.
Anyway, thank you again for reading and commenting.
