This is great! I like the little details you put in like "He eased his grip enough so that she wouldn't have bruises on her skin, but not enough that she could pull free." And Henrietta calling Jayne and Inara her parents! And ""But that woman in there gave hers up so that you could have one, and if you throw it away, then that means she's dying for nothing at all.""

I liked the way you worked this theme into the story: "It ain't what you wanted," he finally said. "What you want don't much matter. It's what you get, that's all."

oh, i love the original, and i love this spin on it. Jayne is forever Jayne, stubborn and loud and uncouth..but when he loves he loves all out. For Henry and for Inara.

and Inara, working as a maid for so many years.

Ive read the beginning and the end now. Now, I want the middle, the years of them running and moving and working..and the stories Henry heard about Serenity.
